Why are there two services - Don’s Online Print Service andDon’s Online Print Service PLUS?
There are two separate but complimenting parts to our online printing system. Don’s Online Print service is software you install on your PC. It’s a fast, simple and convenient way to order prints. Don’s Online Print Service PLUS is a web based service that requires no software install and can do more than print. Both services send files to print.
What is Don’s Online Print Service?
Don’s Online Print Service is free software that you install on your computer. This software will send files to Don’s Photo for printing and the prints can be picked up at any one of our seven locations or sent directly to your home with Canada Post or Purolator. There are also tools that can be used to crop, reduce red-eye and to enhance your images prior to printing.
What is Don’s Online Print Service PLUS?
Don’s Online Print Service PLUS is a web based system that is used to print your digital files. This service can accessed through any web browser and does not require you to install software. You can print, share images in online albums, order greeting cards, run slide shows and other services.
What Sizes Can I order?
We can print from 3 1/2x5 to 20x30 inch prints. We have organized the list of sizes into three categories. The first list of files is organized to show you the sizes that each store can print specifically for each location this has the heading of “Quick Prints”. We also have a heading of other services called "Additional Sizes". Most of these sizes up to 20x30 inch prints are made on Kodak Photographic paper.
How quickly will my order be processed?
All of the prints on the Quick prints list in the software are printed at the location that you have selected and will be ready by the next day. Sometimes we are able to fulfill orders much faster. If you need something rushed, give the location nearest you a call to arrange expedited service. Prints ordered under the "Additional Sizes" heading will take three business days from submission to completed.
What type of file formats can I send?
This software recognizes tiff and jpeg files. As well it can accept the following file formats: Bitmap (.bmp), Targa (.tga), Flashpix (.fpx), Kodak Photo CD (.pcd).
What happens to my original file?
Your original files will not be affected or modified. Dons Photo only makes a copy to upload to our server. We then work on the uploaded file at our Lab.
Is there a Mac version?
No. Mac users are invited to use Don’s Online Print Service PLUS. This web based software will send photo’s for printing. As well, those Mac users on OS 10.3 or later and who use iPhoto can download a Plug-in. This Plug-in can be used to enable iPhoto to print directly form the application. Download the iPhoto Plug-in for the “Cool Tools” menu of the Don’s Online Print Service PLUS main page.
What does Sharing mean?
When you are sending files to us for printing you can also select to share the images on a web-page hosted by Don’s Photo. Sharing sends a message to the email recipients of your choice. The email message has links back to Don’s Online Print Service PLUS, where they can view those files.
How long are images stored on Don’s Online Print Service PLUS?
Images on our web-site are stored for thirty day at no charge. You can purchase extra storage time for any images at the rate of $.05 per image per year.
How much time does it take to upload photos?
Depending on your internet connection and the size of your files, it could take several minutes per image, or a few seconds. When you click "Upload" a service window will indicate the approximate time to complete the upload. Uploading images in Don’s Online Print Service is faster than uploading with Don’s Online Print Service PLUS.
